---> Brief History
Serena's Moon Palace was officially opened on August 19th, 1999 on an account at Angelfire.com. It had been in development for two months, starting in June when I got to California for vacation and was utterly bored and had nothing better to do than sit around and watch TV and surf the internet. I came across Sailor Moon when the R season was still playing, and fell in love with Prince Diamond. I decided to find out more about Sailor Moon, and came across sites like Mamoru.net, SOS, Sailormoon.com, and Hitoshi Doi's Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. Not only did I learn about Sailor Moon, but these original Sailor Moon sites got me interested in webdesign and having a website of my own. Sadly, another reason I began construction on this site in August was because at the time I had an online boyfriend, who, surprizingly enough, was never online, so I was left waiting for him a lot and had nothing better to do than work on my site ^^; After 2 years at Angelfire.com, they downgraded their amount of space allowed per account, and because by that time my site was far surpassing what they were willing to give space for, I had to move. I spent a year at Shimatta.net and my account was deleted after the hostess there, Nati, decided that she didn't like any of her hostees and would just delete all of our accounts without telling us. I'm still not over that...grrr...I lost tons of work that I hadn't backed up on my computer, not thinking that I'd ever just be deleted out of the blue. Whatever. I bought this domain, Reisei-sa.net early this year and soon this site will be celebrating it's 4 year anniversary. I can't wait! ^^;
What's in a name?
I decided on the name Serena's Moon Palace because at the time, I was only acquainted with the english dubbed version of the show, and because what I had heard of Sailor Moon's Japanese name, Usagi, I didn't like. I thought it sounded ugly. At the time, I was pronouncing the name wrong (I pronounced it like ewe-sah-gee, when it should have been oo-sa-gi) and yeah...phwee. That is why this site is stuck with a dubbie name. ^^; I also liked this name because I had yet to come across another site with the same name. Much later I found a site in spanish with the same name, but it's not nearly as good as mine (lol, just kidding!) so I don't care. I had considered changing the name, but I figure that if I change the name now it'll just confuse people. I'm leaving it as is. ^^;
Unorganized?
My original plans for this site were much different than what I ended up with. I had hoped for developing a site as good as The Manga of Naoko Takeuchi - (English Translations) or Bunny's Tour Through the Silver Millenium, but to no avail. I'm still trying to improve, but since I'm in my Junior year of highschool (which, as most of you know, is the year that colleges look at the most) I won't really have much time to update the site anymore and I'm trying to clean up a lot before I'm forced to go away for a year or so.
Credits?
Okay, when I first gathered the materials for my website four years ago, I had no clue about giving credit to sites I got images from, ect, so I didn't bookmark anything. For about 2 years I didn't even have a credits page. The only things on this site that are inarguably mine are the season summaries, the layout, profile paragraphs, and the HTML coding that was done. Just about everthing else was scanned, made, editted, found, ect, by someone other than me. I don't know who they are, and I don't really care unless they come bugging me about wanting credit, which I will happily give. Until then, I'm not going to link people randomly. If you ask me to link you, I will. If I really like your site, then I'll link you. End of story. I do expect people to give me credit for intellectual material that is mine. About a year ago I found a site where the webmistress had stolen my profile summaries word for word and didn't give me credit. She didn't even bother changing the .css script taken from my site. Needless to say I was angry and requested that she give me credit, but the e-mail I sent was never replied to and the profiles were never changed or taken down. After about the 5th e-mail, I gave up and left the issue alone.
Thank you
I would like to thank a number of people who have helped this site stay online and grow throughout the years. They are: Tim, Anna, Jon, Victoria, my affiliates and sisters, and my hostees. They have all contributed to this site in many different ways, and without them, I doubt I would have had the nerve to keep this site online. Thanks guys!
Done?
Yup. Go somewhere else on the site and amuse yourself, I'm sure by now I've completely bored you. Have fun!
