Keiko ranks again + February 7, 2008
In the
latest online polls for watching "fresh faced stars," thanks to a successful
2007, Keiko is able to rank again. In this poll actors and actresses compiled
the list, and different people were asked "Which star are you looking forward to
seeing more of in 2008?" so naturally Keiko's rank drops lower from what it was
on Oricon's Beautiful Woman Journal poll. 3,300 people were asked this question
in November of last year. Out of the top 20, Keiko ranked at number 12 with 58
votes, right below Japanese entertainment heavy weight hottie,
Shun Oguri with
61 votes. Why such incredible support? The poll experts of
Architect Entertainment
(the company that conducted the poll) site Keiko's movie appearances, the
success of Mop Girl, and the popular commercial campaign,
DoCoMo 2.0, for her
heightened reconcilability with the Japanese public. Because of this they
believe Keiko might be the actress who comes out on top by the end of this year.
What surprised me a bit, is who ranked AFTER Keiko.
Maki
Horikita of
Hana Kimi fame ranked in the number 13 spot with 57 votes,
Erika
Sawajiri ranked at 17 with 47 votes, and
Aoi Yuu ranked
at 18 with 45 votes. Horikita, Sawajiri, and Yuu are top actresses with a
much larger amount of fame and popularity. While Horikita and Yuu may certainly
never fall out with the Japanese public, Erika has--which would explain her low
ranking. While this certainly isn't saying that Keiko hopped, skipped, and
jumped her way into becoming more popular than them---is IS saying that people
want to see more of her.
